Allied Arts’ 33rd Annual Festival of the Arts is officially open for the season. They have a new location this year, across the street from Geri Fields, behind Inside Pitch in the Haskell Business Park.
Some amazing work is on display. C’mon down and support local art!

Getting ready for the Allied Arts holiday show. I juried for both my Realms lotions and soaps, plus the art assemblages I’ve been doing all year. So my booth is going to be a little of both. Here’s what I’ve been up to lately:
Been having fun with some mini shadow boxes — in necklace form. They are double-sided.

The Allied Arts Holiday Festival opened yesterday and I’m happy to be in it for the second year.
Here’s how the table looks this year. Got a few new things: bar soap, roll-on perfumes and the room spray is in a new slender brushed aluminum tube.
Heading out to do a shift at the show, but look at what arrived overnight. Going to have to leave a little early, I think.

Been making lotions, shower gels, foaming handsoaps, shaving soap, etc. for weeks now, prepping for the Coupeville Arts and Crafts Festival (coming up Aug. 14 & 15).
I’m gettin’ pumped and feeling that nervous, am-I-going-to-forget-something-big feeling. But I am several deep in every scent, so the display will look full. Now, please do a sun dance for me.

In my family, noone ever said, “So, what’s new?” It was always abbreviated to “so… new?” which made it sound even more Yiddish. ‘Course, it was usually uttered by one of my family members from my Dad’s side, who grew up in Brooklyn. And even though they all moved to California, they never could quite shake the accent.
So… here’s new: I’m slowly making all new Realms stock for the summer season. I found out I just got accepted to the Coupeville Arts & Crafts Festival again this year (yessss). Once I get all the products made in all scents, I’m going to build a light box and shoot all the products (lock-down shot) in anticipation of building a very small e-commerce website. This is slow going so it may be awhile.
I also have a new scent: Wai’oli — lime and verbena with a hint of coconut. It’s light and energizing. I find I’m reaching for it whenever I get into the shower lately (a big cue to me it’s a keeper). And I’m so trying to get that lime in the coconut song out of my head.

So stoked! I’ve been accepted to Allied Arts’ Holiday Festival, the grandmama of Bellingham’s Christmas fairs. I’m going to have to get busy stocking up. The festival runs for over a month: from November 20th – December 24th. Hot damn.

What a time! The Coupeville Arts & Crafts Festival was great. I was honored to be among such amazing artists. We couldn’t have ordered up better weather. The place was packed and the booth location was perfect. Behind us was a picturesque antique store, then the water.
We left three sides of the tent open and put up the new Realms sign that Kev’s cousin Tim had made up for me in back.
I sold out of my new shaving soap!
And, for the first time, I have the feeling that I may just be onto something — something worth pursuing.

Friends and supporters…
Realms products will be making their final appearance of the summer season coming up next weekend at the Coupeville Arts & Crafts festival. This is one of Washington state’s oldest juried arts and crafts fairs, and I am honored to be appearing for my fisrt time. Realms shaving soap will be making its debut too 🙂
I hope to see you there.
